Before starting the upgrade process please follow the steps below to upgrade your existing SightMax Live Chat Server.
1) Backup your AgentInterface and Webservices folders. By default they are located on the server side at "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\SightMax".
2) Backup your SightMaxDB SQL Database. You can either create a backup using your SQL Manager, or simply copy the database files to a different folder. Note: The file names are SightMaxDB.mdf and SightMaxDB.ldf, usually located at
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data".
Important: We do not support any database customization and all your customizations in the SightMaxDB database will be lost in the database upgrade process. If you had any customization done, you will have to redo it in the newer version.
Server Side - Installation
The SightMax Server MUST be installed on a machine with Windows 2003 or 2008 Server, IIS 6.0 or above and .NET 3.5 Framework SP1. On the Windows 2008 Server you will need ASP.NET and WCF Activation installed.
Operator Side - Installing the SightMax Operator Application
The SightMax Operator installation file (SightMaxOperator.exe) will be placed on your desktop when the SightMax Server installation is finished. You will need to copy and install this file on any other machines that you wish operators to chat with website visitors and monitor website activity. Please refer to the Operator QuickStart Guide for installation and usage instructions (Start|Programs|SightMax|Operator Usage Guide).
Optionally, you can download and install the new Operator Console on each Workstation or PC directly from our website: Download Operator Console Version 7.5
The SightMax Operator console needs to be the same version as your SightMax Server and can be installed on any machine with Windows XP, 2000 Pro, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server, all Vista editions, Windows 7.
The .NET 3.5 Framework SP1 is required.

You can follow our installation instructions from our SightMax Installable Installation Guide. When the installation is finished, the SightMax System Administrator Quickstart will pop up on your screen. Please follow the step-by-step directions in order to configure SightMax properly if needed.
Registering SightMax -
SightMax 7 requires you to request a new license file from the Admin Console.
Please refer to "Section 3: Registration" in the Administrator Quickstart Guide for detailed instructions (Start|Programs|SightMax|SightMax Administrator Guide).
1. Request a new license file from the Admin Console.
2. Once your request has been received your license key will be emailed to you.
3. Upon receipt of the license key, you will need to attach it to your SightMax Server. Please refer to "Section 3: Registration" in the Administrator Quickstart Guide for detailed instructions.
